from a letter by Daniel Teeter(b. 7/5/1825):
Our father's father's given name was Abraham. He married a woman by the name of Shively. I think her given name was Elizabeth. They were brought East of the North mountain and resided East of the Conococheague Creek not far from the Pa/ Md. line, either in Washington County, MD or Franklin County, PA, until the spring of 1788 when they left that country and moved to Morrison's Cove, Bedford County, PA."

"Maryville Times" Sat. Oct. 29, 1899, "George Caylor was shot Wednesday and died Thursday. He was killed by a young man by the name of Webb. It is reported that they fell out over a quart of whiskey."
In looking at the dates, if Sat. was Oct. 29, and George died the previous Thurs. then his death date would be Oct. 27, not the 25th as indicated. More research is needed to verify the exact date of death.
George was buried in Myers Cemetery.

Individual Note:
Johann Michael Diederich came to America at the age of 19; we don't know if his wife came with him, or he met her here.
Records show that a Johann Michael Diederich landed in Philadelphia on September 7, 1748 on the ship Hampshire from Rotterdam, last from Falmouth, England. Other Deeters arrived about the same time but this date seems reasonable since his son John was born c. 1750, his brother Abraham was born c. 1752. Abraham fathered David in 1773.*

*From "PA German Pioneers, Vol. 1", by Ralph B. Straussburger L.L.D., edited by
Wm. John Hinke, Ph. D.D.D. Published by Pennsylvania German Society, Norristown, PA.

Some think that Johann Michael settled in Bucks County, PA, after landing in Philadelphia inn 1748, while others say he settled in Western Lancaster County, PA, which later became York County. It is very likely that he did take his young family west to the Conococheague area; it was here that Johann Michael's son Abraham was married and the first 5 of his 13 children were born.

John, Sr. and Abraham were (possibly) born in Lancaster County, PA or York County, PA. There were probably other children. The family moved West to the Conococheague area sometime between 1741 -1761.
