"MRS. MARGARET B. KINPORTS
Mrs. Margaret B. Kinports, aged 84 years, widow of Porter Kinports died at her home in Cherry Tree on Thursday. The deased was born at Burside, April 30, 1836, and was the second child of John and Ellen Boyer Mahaffey. She spent the greater part of her life at Cherry Tree and when a young woman taught school in that section. She was married September 15, 1859 to Porter Kinports, who died a number of years ago. The children surviving are: Mrs. Minitte Driscol and Boyd W. and J. C. Kinports, of Cherry Tree and Mrs. Estelle Davis of Virginia. She is also survived by a brother W. T. Mahaffy, of Cherry Tree. Inteerment was made at Cherry Tree on Saturday."
"She remembered as a child, playing with a string of solid silver buttons which had been cut from a coat belonging to some of her Mahaffey forbears. These buttons were afterwards made into teaspoons, and are highly prized by those who possess them. As she grew older she went about the place with her father, often helping him calculate lumber, or with his books at night.
She has personal recollections of both paternal and maternal grandfathers. In a personal conversation with her as to relationship of some of the family lines she told the writer (Mrs. Davis) this: 'I well remember that my grandfather William met and conversed with James Mahaffey, of Marietta, PA., at a Fourth of July celebration held at Cherry Tree, PA., and during their conversation they traced a direct relationship. They were first cousins, or their fathers were.' This matter being uncertain in my mind. If they were cousins, then James and Thomas were brothers; if the fathers were cousins, then the grandfathers were brothers, and makes the Lancaster county Mahaffeys and the Lycoming County Mahaffeys of the same stock.
Margaret Bennett, at seventy-siven, is a wll pres, woman, with an Irish grey eye, hair somewhat silvered, black; a rosy complexion, and rather an erect carriage, ready wit and unselfish disposition make her a charimg companion, and she is held in high esteem by all who knows her. At hom, "The Maples," at Cherry Tree, has always been noted for its genial atmosphere, and friends and strangers alike have S Its hospitality. She stil resides there." Nancy Mehaffey - Oct. 8, 2000 from book by Estell Kinports Davis.

Individual Note: According to Anna Elizabeth Davis Schram Seger, Albert "Bert" Schram broke his neck due to a fall from a horse, when their sons were quite young and they lived on a ranch in California. Bert was a very good and capable cowboy and had just returned from some errands in town with family. He had on a pair of shoes instead of his cowboy boots. He was called upon to help round up some cattle that had escaped from their enclosure. Bert, always willing to help when needed, immediately went to help, without changing clothes or shoes. The horse he was riding tripped in a small hole, throwing Bert, thereby breaking the man's neck. He recovered, but for the rest of his life he suffered from excruciating headaches.

Individual Note: Anna, better known to this researcher as "Mom" was the best mother-in-law anyone could ask for. She did not interfere with the raising of her grandchildren or the marriage of her son "Wink" and Leigh. She was always available for advice if asked, and gave very good advice. Was always willing to help any and all. In her later years she collected stuffed animals, especially bears. They were proudly displayed throughout her home.
Although she did not do genealogical research in the fullest form, she would tell family stories and helped gather information for this researcher. Thanks to Mom, information pertaining to Jordan, Davis and Schram lines has been fruitful. Thank you, Mom, and you are missed greatly
