Mrs. W. T. Rench called to rest. Mother of large family dies Monday at 56 years; is buried today.
Mrs. Phoebe Ann Rench, wife of Mr. W. T. Rench of 909 Pine Avenue, this city, passed away at Carney-Wilcox hospital Monday, July 4, at 10:30 o'clock in the evening. She had been suffering with a severe asthmatic and heart condition for a lengthy period. She was 56 years old.
Funeral rites will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist church. Rev. Joseph W. Priest, assisted by Rev. W. T. Roberts will have charge of the service. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
Mrs. Rench was born in Muncie, Indiana, January 28, 19882, and much of her early life was spent in that locality. She met and married Theodore Rench, and in later years nine children came to them. The family moved to Alma more than twenty years ago, and have the respect of all who know them here. Mrs. Rench was interested in the First Baptist church and was also willing to assist in all other worth-while affairs in the community, so far as her time and health permitted. She was a conscientious mother and home-maker and her death is a cause of deep sorrow to those near her.
Surviving are the husband and the children, eight of whom live in this community. They are Mrs. Norman Smith of Saginaw, Leonard, Walter, Earl, Ruby, Duane, and Dorwin Rench, Mrs. Raymond Griffith and Mrs. Philip Burr.

Passed away, Tuesday, November 24, 1992, at St. Luke's Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Age 89 years. Elsie G. Rench was born April 30, 1903 in Eaton, Ind. She married Norman F. Smith on June 20, 1925. He passed away June 17, 1981. She was employed by Republic Motor Co., Chevrolet Transmission and by Schirmer Drug. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Albert Lapine, Saginaw, five grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Kathy Lapine, Mark and Vickie Lapine, Steve and Jeanne Lapine, Denise and Jeff Supinger, Loreen and Bob Hebin, all of Saginaw; seven great-grandchildren, Matt and Arianne Lapine, Troy and Tarah Lapine, Brandie Lapine, Justin and Jeffrey Supinger; one sister, Mildred Burr, Fenton; many nieces and nephews. Norman F. Smith, AuGres, Michigan. Passed away at the Midland Medical Center late Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 1981. Age 76 years. He was born Dec. 16, 1904 in Pearle, Michigan moving to the Alma area when a young man. He later moved to Saginaw where he lived most of his life. He married Elsie Rench June 20, 1925. She survives him. He retired in 1966 after 37 years in the trucking industry. He also owned Norm's Train Shop for 15 years. He moved to AuGres after his retirement. He was a member of the Solar Lodge of the Masons and the Bay City Consistory. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Patricia Anne) Lapine, Saginaw, five grandchildren, Mike, Mark and Steven Lapine, Mrs. Denise Supinger and Miss Loreen Lapine, all of Saginaw; five great-grandchildren....

On December 9, 1999 Al left his home to go fishing at the Crystal Sea. Age 74 years. Al was born July 30, 1925 in Detroit and moved to Saginaw as a child. He married Patricia A. Smith August 18, 1950 in Angola, Ind. She survives him. He was affiliated with New Covenant Community Church in Carrollton. Al was employed by Delphi Chassi Plant for 22 years before retiring in 1988. He was previously employed by Lufkin Rule Com for 18 years. Al was a member of U.A.W. Local 467, Field and Stream, Bassmasters, and the North American Fishing Club. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Denise (Mrs. Jeffrey) Supinger of Carrollton; Loreen (Mrs. Robert) Herbin of Saginaw; three sons, Mike and his wife Kathy Lapine of Saginaw; Mark and his wife Vickie Lapine of St. Charles; Steven and his wife Jeanne Lapine of Carrollton; Matthew and his wife Claudia Lapine of Troy; eight grandchildren, Arianne, Brandie aand Tarah Lapine, Jeffrey and Justin Supinger, and Ethan Herbin. Al was preceded by two brothers.
Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 1999 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road. Rev. David Vorce will officiate. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorialss to Michigan United Conservation Club.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 1981 for Walter E. Rench of St. Louis. Mr. Rench died November 22 at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma. He was 75 years old.
Mr. Rench was born December 22, 1905 in Smithton, West Virginia. He was the son of William T. and Phoebe A. (Hayden) Rench.
On Aug. 25, 1929 in Flint, he was married to Fern Bently, who died May 22, 1977.
He married Louise Mitchell Black on June 14, 1980 and she survives him. He came to Gratiot County in 1914 from West Virginia.
Mr. Rench taught school in Royal Oak in 1929-30 and at Alma High School from 1930 to 1970 when he retired. He was a 1926 graduate of Alma High School and a 1929 graduate of Western Michigan College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1932.
He was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and the Elks club.
Besides his wife, Louise, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Janet (Philip) Snyder of Owosso;......two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Smith of Saginaw and Mrs. Mildred Burr of Fenton; two brothers, Earl of Vestaburg and Dorwin of New Baltimore; two grandchildren....

Funeral services for Mrs. Fern Rench, 69, of 430 Grafton St., Alma, who passed away at her home on May 22, 1977, were held May 25 at the Moody-Wofel Funeral Home.
Dr. Donald Scranton of the First Methodist Church officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service and interment was in Chapel Gardens Cemetery.
She was born in Barryton on Nov. 22, 1908 to Bentley and Mary (Douglas) Briggs. On Aug. 25, 1929 in Flint, she married Walter Rench who survives his wife.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Janet Snyder of Owosso and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Rench was a member of the First Methodist Church in Alma.
