Individual Note:
Sir Thomas Holt was a Knight. He might have lived during the reign of Henry VII. His great, great grandson, also Sir Thomas Holt was born 1612. Using the average of 25 years per generation, Sir Thomas could have been born about 1437. It makes one wonder if Sir Thomas Holt ever met the King.
Date of birth and death are not known to this researcher at this time. More research is needed.
If Sir Thomas was born about 1437, that would mean he was about 46 years of age when Edward IV died and his 2 sons; Edward V and Richard "disappeared" in the Tower of London. Their uncle named himself Richard III and was thought by many to have had his two nephews murdered so he could gain the throne.
In 1485, when Sir Thomas would have been 48, Henry Tudor returned to Wales, raised an army, invaded England, and defeated Richard III at the battle of Bosworth Field. Richard died in the battle and Henry Tudor became Henry VII, the first Tudor king. Could Sir Thomas have faught for Henry Tudor or Richard III ? Could he have met either or both of them? There were not a great number of knights at that time, it is possible, especially if Sir Thomas was still alive in the 1480s. Who knows, just maybe he attended the wedding of Henry Tudor to Richard's niece, Elizabeth of York, uniting the houses of Lancaster and York, thus ending the War of the Roses.
