Betsy died at the age of 31 years, 11 months, and 8 days and is buried beside her husband John Cable Hardman in the Old Harris Creek Church of the Brethren graveyard in Adams Twp., Darke Co., OH. After Betsy's death John was remarried to Mary Catharine Large.

John had 8 children in all, the first three by his first wife and the last five by his second wife. His two sons by the first marriage were both killed at Nashville, TN in the Civil War. John was shown on the 1850 census as a farmer in Adams Twp., Darke Co., OH.
John is buried in Old Harris Creek Cemetery, Darke Co., OH.

Emanuel is buried in Old Harris Creek Cemetery, Darke Co., OH. He was killed in the Civil War at Nashville, TN. Emanuel was wounded in the battle near Murfreesboro, TN and died on Feb. 18, 1863. He was a member of Co.I, 94th Reg. OVI, where 2 officers and 52 enlisted men were killed or mortally wounded at the Battle of Stone's Creek. Both Emanuel and his brother David were buried in the Old Harris Creek Cemetery in Adams Twp., Darke Co., OH.

Individual Note:
David was wounded in the battle near Murfreesboro, TN and died on Jan. 26, 1863. He was a member of Co.I, 94th Reg. OVI, where 2 officers and 52 enlisted men were killed or mortally wounded during the existance of the unit. Both David and his brother Emanuel received mortal wounds during the Battle of Stone's River and were buried in the Old Harris Creek Cemetery in Adams Twp., Darke Co., OH.
