Individual Note: Susan was at Fort Chicago at the time the Indians attacked the fort in August 1812, killing all the soldiers, including Susan's husband. Susan was taken prisoner and was kept about one year, when she was restored to her friends, and afterward married ? Redenbaugh, of Shelby County.

Individual Note: John enlisted in the regular army. While in the army, in August, 1812, he was stationed at Fort Chicago. The fort was destroyed by the Inidans, and he with the other soldiers were all massacred.

Individual Note: Joseph is buried in Porter Co., IN. Joseph's farm extended on both sides of PA and MD state line. Mainly lying in Washington Co., MD near Middleburg. He and wife were members of the German Reformed Church. Later moved to a farm near Wheeler, Porter Co., IN where he died and was buried. His widow died 1868 near Whiteside, IL and was buried there. Joseph and Elizabeth Angle) Brumbaugh had 10 children that are well covered in the Brumbaugh book. Their names are listed on page 174 as: Catharine susannah, Eliza Jane, Alexander, Julia Ann, Emily, Mary, Oliver Perry, Eleanor, Joseph, and Louisa Davis Brumbaugh.
